The Safety Department

The Safety Department is responsible for maintaining the safety of buildings and all campus visitors using various preventive measures.

The Safety Department

1. The Safety Department (Medical Clinics) includes a total of 17 medical clinics distributed across all university locations.

2. The medical clinics operate for 12 hours daily.

3. Supervising the hiring of paramedics, monitoring their work, and distributing them within the medical clinics at university locations, ensuring compliance with contract terms, and issuing violations to the company and paramedics in case of any breaches of the contract.

4. Equipped with 41 certified paramedics by the Ministry of Health, as well as medications and other medical supplies approved by the ministry.

5. The Safety Department includes specialized firefighters to handle fire incidents, ensuring control and safety at all university locations.

6. The firefighting team in the Safety Department operates 24 hours a day, including Fridays and public holidays.

7. The Safety Department includes a total of 23 firefighters distributed across all university locations.

8. The Safety Department is responsible for distributing safety equipment to university buildings and facilities.

Responsibilities of the Safety Department:

9. Preparing and developing safety regulations and procedures at the university and monitoring their implementation.

10. Ensuring the availability of safety measures in all vital facilities and coordinating with relevant authorities to secure them.
 

11. Establishing the conditions, specifications, and technical standards required for safety equipment, working on classifying and standardizing them, and ensuring compliance.

12. Scheduling maintenance work for safety equipment and organizing surprise and regular inspection rounds.

13. Preparing a safety manual for the university.

14. Providing fire-fighting means and both fixed and mobile extinguishing equipment.

15. The workforce categories in the medical clinics of the Safety Department vary, including paramedic supervisors, assistant supervisors, paramedics, and female paramedics, along with an attached labor count.

- The Security and Safety Administration has been tasked by the university's General Secretariat with managing the medical clinics, and the responsibility for managing and supervising the clinics has been assigned to the Safety Department.

16. The Safety Department (Medical Clinics) is responsible for handling medical cases that visit the medical clinics at various university locations, as well as providing first aid for emergency situations until the ambulance arrives.

17. Participating in student activities by setting up mobile clinics equipped with paramedics and medical supplies to respond during emergency situations, providing necessary first aid until the ambulance arrives.

18. Organizing awareness campaigns for all campus visitors to promote health awareness and preventive safety within the university community in the fields of health, safety, and the environment.

19. Organizing training courses for work centers in departments and colleges to introduce how to perform first aid and deal with emergency situations that may occur at work, including practical training on first aid.

20. Maintaining continuous communication with the Ministry of Health staff for regular visits to the medical clinics belonging to the Safety Department, distributed across all university locations.

21. Supplying and updating the contents of first aid kits distributed in the scientific laboratories at university locations and conducting periodic checks on the first aid kits across the university, especially in the scientific laboratories, to ensure they are regularly updated and checking the validity of medications and medical supplies, adding new supplies as needed.

23. Organizing training courses in coordination and cooperation with relevant external agencies (General Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services, Civil Defense, Public Authority for the Environment) to train and enhance the capabilities of security personnel and paramedics, and to stay updated on the latest developments in their fields.

24. Conducting mock evacuation drills for work centers, departments, and university colleges to train on how to respond to emergency situations and evacuate buildings while ensuring the safety of lives and property, and assessing the readiness of security personnel, firefighters, and paramedics in the Safety Department.

25. Identifying the needs of university facilities for certain requirements for individuals with disabilities by communicating and coordinating with other departments within the university, such as installing special elevators and preparing parking spaces and pathways to meet their needs.

26. Organizing training courses for work centers in departments and colleges to introduce general safety measures, firefighting equipment, and how to respond during fires and evacuate buildings, including practical training on using handheld fire extinguishers.

27. Conducting regular preventive inspections in coordination with the General Fire Department at all university locations, including:

- Periodic inspection forms for fire extinguishers, identifying their numbers, types, conditions, capacities, and expiration dates through documented ISO forms.
 
- Periodic inspection forms for safety conditions and monitoring safety statuses by inspecting firefighting equipment and safety systems, including regular checks of emergency exits, doors, alarm systems, smoke and heat detectors, signage, elevators, and services for individuals with disabilities.

28. Maintaining continuous communication and coordination with the General Civil Defense Administration and implementing their recommendations to ensure public safety on campus by:

- Raising awareness of safety procedures and risk management, maintaining ongoing communication and coordination with the General Civil Defense Administration to implement awareness and guidance lectures at university locations for all campus visitors, and conducting mock evacuation drills for colleges and work centers, which will be evaluated based on the performance of the evacuation drills and recommendations from the General Civil Defense Administration. For example, paving and creating internal access routes for emergency vehicles.

29. Removing obstacles from emergency exit doors in all university buildings and facilities to ensure their safety by auditing emergency exits in university facilities and eliminating any obstructions. This includes preparing necessary reports and safety cases that demonstrate the work of the Security and Safety Administration—Safety Department—in regular audits and ensuring the removal of these obstacles to guarantee the safety of emergency exits and doors in all university buildings.

30. Providing necessary preventive safety measures for university accommodations (faculty housing, student housing, female student housing) and responding to emergency calls 24 hours a day, including Fridays and public holidays.
