Security Department

The Security Department

It is the department responsible for (securing the university campus and dealing with various security situations). 
This department is concerned with guarding the university buildings and facilities and protecting them from theft.

The Security Department

The Security Department is responsible for the following tasks:

1. The Security Department operates 24 hours a day at all university locations (Al-Khalidiya, Al-Jabriya, Kaifan, Shuwaikh, Hawally, Al-Adailiya, Al-Shaddadiya, and Fintas).
2. The department works throughout the week, including Fridays and official holidays.
3. The Security Department operates on a two-shift system, with each shift lasting 12 hours (morning and evening). Each shift hands over to the next to ensure the continuity of security operations across university locations.
4. The Security Department is responsible for guarding and securing eight university locations (Al-Khalidiya, Al-Jabriya, Kaifan, Shuwaikh, Hawally, Al-Adailiya, Al-Shaddadiya, and Fintas).
5. The department oversees a diverse group of personnel implementing security procedures within university locations.

6. It supervises the administrative staff assigned to the department and also oversees security officers, female security officers, assistant supervisors, female assistant supervisors, screen monitors, drivers, retired Kuwaitis, supervisors, chief supervisors, security and safety inspectors, and Balouchi guards.

7. The security workforce comprises 992 individuals working under security contracts, distributed across all university locations and operating 24 hours a day throughout the week.

8. Establishment of security and safety offices distributed across all university locations, staffed with security and safety supervisors available 24/7 to monitor security personnel and allocate them to university facilities as needed, coordinating with different departments to provide security and safety requirements on-site and to respond immediately to emergencies.

9. A central monitoring room (for camera surveillance) is utilized to monitor through cameras 24/7.

Continuous communication and coordination with relevant external entities such as the Central Operations Management (112), General Directorate of Civil Defense, Explosives Department, General Fire Department, and Medical Emergency Services, involving exchanges of visits with these entities to share experiences and review the security systems in place.

11. Providing a hot line for emergencies and receiving reports. In line with advanced technology, the security management system has been enhanced to ensure efficient and rapid performance by monitoring security situations, emergencies, and public safety via the central operations room in Al-Khalidiya, and allocating a hot line for emergencies and reporting at the internal number (83333) and direct line (24983333).

12. Supervising the security contract for providing security personnel to the university by monitoring the implementation of the contract terms between the company and the university, ensuring compliance with all terms, and issuing penalties to the company in case of violations.

13. Supervising the accommodation for security officers by conducting surprise inspections to ensure suitability of the housing, population density, cleanliness, provision of water and electricity, necessary furnishings, elevators, and all security and safety requirements. Penalties will be issued to the company for any violations.

14. Supervising the contractor's transportation by inspecting the buses transporting security personnel to ensure their suitability regarding air conditioning, cleanliness, periodic maintenance, tires, capacity, comprehensive insurance, and lighting, with penalties applied for any violations.

15. Guarding university buildings and facilities to prevent vandalism or theft of contents.

16. Verifying identities and permits of individuals and monitoring the removal of furniture and equipment from university locations as regulated.

17. The Security Department supervises the security of events and university activities throughout the year in coordination with various university departments and work centers.

18. Initial response to incidents and notifying the relevant authorities.

19. Implementing awareness programs and training courses for security personnel, regularly organizing training sessions to enhance their performance in dealing with the public and individuals with special needs, and keeping them updated with the latest in security work.

20. Continuous communication with relevant external entities (Ministry of Interior - police station) to complete the security procedures followed by the Ministry of Interior after preliminary investigations by security personnel in cases of theft that may occur on campus.

21. Continuous communication with relevant external entities in the Ministry of Interior (General Traffic Department - General Security) to provide security and traffic patrols during student registration periods and during academic aptitude tests for high school students to ensure student safety and facilitate traffic flow on the surrounding streets.

22. Submitting periodic reports on work progress: The Security Department prepares daily security reports focusing on security conditions at locations and the performance of security personnel, which are then submitted to the security and safety supervisor for review and further submission to the department director.

23. Continuous communication with departments and colleges at the university to inform them of any unacceptable practices by students or staff.

24. Monitoring the attendance and departure records of security personnel daily across both shifts, overseeing their activities, and issuing absenteeism penalties for individuals and the company if applicable.

25. Providing necessary security for university accommodations (faculty housing, student housing, and female student housing) 24 hours a day.

Equipment Used by the Security Department:

- The Security Department uses long-range wireless devices to facilitate communication across all university locations, allowing rapid response in emergencies.
- The department utilizes surveillance cameras operating 24/7 to monitor security conditions.
- The department has patrol vehicles available at all university locations to facilitate movement between sites and ensure prompt response to emergencies, operating 24/7 throughout the week.
