As part of its efforts to promote traffic awareness among its students and staff, the Security and Safety Department at Kuwait University is organizing a comprehensive awareness campaign in cooperation with the Traffic Awareness Department at the Ministry of Interior. The campaign will take place from October 12 to 16, 2025, at Sabah Al-Salem University City, in the presence of the Director of the Security and Safety Department at Kuwait University, Mr. Yousef Yaqoub Al-Khamees, and the Head of the Traffic Awareness Section at the Ministry of Interior, Major Musaed Al-Aslawi.
The campaign aims to spread a culture of traffic safety and raise awareness about the preventive measures that should be followed while driving within the university campus, as well as to educate university members on the importance of adhering to traffic laws to ensure their safety and the safety of others.
In this regard, the Director of the Security and Safety Department at Kuwait University, Mr. Yousef Yaqoub Al-Khamees, explained that the annual traffic campaign organized by the department in cooperation and coordination with the General Traffic Department at the Ministry of Interior aims to educate students and university members in general about the traffic violations that occur within the campus, as well as the regulations and laws established by the Ministry of Interior. He added that the roads and streets of Kuwait University are subject to monitoring and direct supervision by the Security and Safety Department in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, where traffic violations are recorded and referred to the Ministry for the necessary action. The campaign also includes awareness about the new traffic law and its amendments, with the goal of raising the level of awareness among students in this regard.
Al-Khamees pointed out that the campaign also includes introducing the new gates such as gates 9B and A, in addition to announcing the “Masar” service, which will be launched soon. He emphasized that what distinguishes this campaign is the direct outreach to students inside classrooms to deliver awareness in an interactive and engaging manner, expressing his gratitude to all participants who contributed to the success of this initiative.
For his part, the Head of the Traffic Awareness Section at the Ministry of Interior, Major Musaed Al-Aslawi, expressed his thanks to Kuwait University for its kind invitation, stressing that the participation of the General Traffic Department coincides with the return of students to the university for the new academic year. He explained that the General Traffic Department always strives to guide students to leave their homes early before lectures begin to avoid traffic congestion and to prevent the need to drive at high speeds. He also emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic signals, especially within the university campus, to ensure the safety of students and all campus visitors.
The campaign includes an educational visual presentation for students, as part of the joint initiatives between Kuwait University and the Ministry of Interior to promote a culture of traffic commitment and instill the values of safety within the university campus, contributing to the protection of lives and property and enhancing civilized driving behavior
