World Mental Health Day

Kuwait University - Security and Safety Administration organized an awareness event titled "World Mental Health Day" at the College of Life Sciences in Sabah Al-Salem University City. This initiative aims to enhance community partnership and collaboration with government sectors and civil society, and reflects Kuwait University's commitment to spreading preventive culture, raising awareness, and encouraging individuals and communities to take steps regarding the importance of mental health.

The event was held in collaboration with the Ministry of Health - Health Promotion Administration on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 10:00 AM. It was attended by Dr. Nawaf Al-Hajri, Acting Dean of the College of Life Sciences; Mr. Saleh Mahmoud Al-Musallam, Administrative Director of the College of Life Sciences; Mr. Youssef Yaqub Al-Khamis, Director of Security and Safety; and Mr. Youssef Hassan, Acting Head of the Safety Department. Several participating entities were also present, including the Health Promotion Administration, Chronic Diseases Administration, Kuwait Mental Health Center, Beit Al-Tamweel Center for Addiction Treatment, Kuwait Cancer Control Center, and Warba Company for Chronic Disease Prevention and Control. The event took place in the lobby of the College of Life Sciences at the southern campus of Sabah Al-Salem University City.

During the event, attendees toured the participating booths to highlight the importance of mental health and raise awareness about it. The participating organizations provided information and advice on psychological care and the proper methods for dealing with psychological challenges. They emphasized the importance of taking care of mental health and raising awareness about the significance of attending to the psychological aspect of individuals.

These events are part of the university and health institutions' efforts to support the health of students and staff and promote awareness of the importance of mental health in the university community. The exhibition included the distribution of many brochures and pamphlets and addressed inquiries from visitors, including students and faculty members.
